    Why Jesus Alone is Enough

There’s something in us that longs for more—something deeper and truer, something whole. But when that longing meets a world full of noise and quick fixes, it’s easy to start blending things together. We mix in strategies, self-help ideas, and spiritual-sounding language—trying to make it all work. Are you blending culture with Christ? The letter to the Colossians invites us to slow down and ask that question honestly. To come back to what our souls have always needed. Jesus. Present, pure, and enough.

That’s part of what makes the letter to the Colossians so timely. It’s a reminder that Jesus isn’t just helpful or inspirational—He’s everything. In Him is the fullness of life, the treasure of all wisdom and knowledge. And when we build our lives on Him, we’re not missing anything.

Paul is writing to a group of believers he’s never met, but he’s aching for them to get this. They were facing a mixture of ideas—high-sounding philosophies, clever arguments, cultural traditions, even spiritual-sounding language. It all seemed intelligent and appealing. But none of it carried the power to heal. None of it could restore the human heart. Only Jesus can do that.

It’s easy to see how that kind of mixture creeps in. Sometimes, without realizing it, we start blending the world’s systems and strategies with our faith. We adopt tools, structures, and ways of thinking that might seem wise, but end up clouding our view of Jesus. Are there places in your life where that’s started to happen? Things that once felt helpful, but now seem to be taking up more space than they should?

The invitation in Paul’s words to the Colossians is to stay rooted in Jesus. To keep looking at Him. To slow down and really see what He’s doing. And often, it’s not in the places we expect. It’s in the interruptions. The Gospels are full of these moments—the woman reaching for His robe, the child who comes forward, the friend lowered through the roof. Are there interruptions in your life right now that might actually be invitations?

That kind of awareness takes practice. It takes a willingness to let go of mixture and return to something simple: Jesus, present and near. Not just a concept or belief, but a real Person, guiding and shaping your every day. What helps you stay aware of Him in the middle of your real, ordinary life?

We don’t need to add to Jesus. He doesn’t need a boost from culture or a polish from our best ideas. He is wisdom. He is peace. He is the fullness we’re looking for. And when we make space for Him—when we let our roots go deep—our faith grows strong, and our hearts grow thankful.

This is the journey of maturity. It’s not about figuring everything out. It’s about staying connected. Returning, again and again, to the one who knit you together, who knows you completely, and who invites you to walk with Him in trust. What would it look like for you to return to that place today?

    Because Jesus is enough.

    He always has been.

    He always will be.
